By Metro

In general, the Metro system in Lisbon is very reliable and safe, and is usually the best way to quickly get around the city. For the map of metro stations, please click here.

Metro Fares:
The best and, in many cases, the only way to pay for city transport is to buy one of two available rechargeable travel cards - "7 Colinas" or "Viva Viagem". These travel cards are valid for metro, trams (elétrico), urban trains, most buses and ferries.
Reusable card (7colinas or Viva): €0.50
Single tickets for metro, which can be used for 60 minutes (€1.40). Day pass for metro and buses (€6).

By Bus

Carris Fares:
The entire city of Lisbon is provided with an urban transport network with convenient timetables and frequent buses. Both CARRIS and Metro tickets are valid for one trip across the CARRIS and Metro network for 60 minutes after the first input validation.
You can also choose to purchase tickets directly on board the CARRIS fleet. The on-board fares are:
Bus on-board fare - €1.80
Tram on-board fare - €2.85

Full details (including a route planner) can be found here

By Taxi

The fare on the taxi meter should read €3.25 (daytime) or €3.90 (night time). Outside the city limits, city fares are charged per kilometer (daytime fare €0.94/km; night time fare €1.13/km). An additional €1.60 is charged for the transportation of luggage or animals. Before taking a taxi, inquire about the fare.
